All About ChatGPT - The Strong Future of AI

In this article, we will take a look at how to deploy an angular application to an Amazon S3 Bucket and access it via AWS Cloud Front. 

This process consists of two CI/CD steps: 
- Building the project with AWS CodeBuild 
- Configuring Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) with AWS Code Pipeline.  

## Get Started with AWS

### Pre-Requisites:
- Access to AWS Account  - Understanding of AWS S3, Code-Build & Code-Pipeline in order to create CI/CD pipeline.  
- Basic knowledge of CloudFront, Route 53, Certificate Manager. 



Below are the steps to follow the process:  
### Create AWS S3 bucket enabling Static Web Hosting with Public Access:

Create an S3 bucket and in General Configuration section, give the Bucket Name, the name should be unique. Keep Object Ownership as default.  

Enable public access to the Bucket by unchecking the ‘Block all public access’. This does allow access to the bucket publicly, but this doesn’t enable public access to the content/objects inside the bucket.  

Keep the rest as default and click ‘Create bucket’.  

Once the bucket is created, go inside it and we can see different configuration tabs for this bucket. Here it shows the Access level of the bucket as ‘publicly accessible’.  

- Next step is to enable this bucket, to host a website. Click on ‘Properties’ tab and find the section ‘Static website hosting’.    
- After finding the Static website hosting section, click on edit and edit the configurations there mentioned as:

Next step is to create custom bucket policy because though we enabled public access for this bucket it doesn’t allow to access the object inside the bucket to be accessed publicly.   

Click the ‘permissions’ tab and go inside. There you can find a section ‘Bucket policy’ and then, click on ‘Edit’ and add the following inside the ‘Policy’-

Now, save the changes and thus we have configured our S3 bucket to host a static website that is accessible publicly.  

### Create AWS CodeBuild:

- To create CodeBuild click on ‘Create build project’.  
- In the ‘Project configuration’ section gives the build name. Always keep in mind to keep the naming convention is configurated correctly.
- Then in the ‘Source’ section, select the ‘Github’ as the ‘Service Provider’. Connect to GitHub and then it will ask your consent to connect your GitHub with AWS.  
- Then add repository URL, and set the branch you wish to use.  

In the ‘Environment’ section, update the configuration as per the requirement. Also do check the additional configuration section in order to mention Environment Variable and some other details eg : compute.  

Now comes the most important section is ‘Buildspec’. Here we configure how our project should be built to generate artifacts.   

In order to create buildspec, we have two options: 
Use a buildspec file or Insert build commands. 
We used a buildspec file. Below is the build file -

Next is to configure ‘Artifacts’. Select the type from the dropdown button and click on Update Artifact.

Once done click on ‘Create Build Project’ and run the CodeBuild and check whether the build is successful or not.  

### Create AWS CodePipeline:

AWS CodePipeline is used to automate build and deployment of our Angular _[**Web Application**](https://www.habilelabs.io/services/custom-application-development)_ to S3 bucket.  
Click on ‘Create pipeline’. Then we have to follow below steps in order to create the Codepipeline.  

- **Pipeline Settings** — General configurations for the Codepipeline, such as Name, Role etc.  
- **Source** — As the first step we have to set up the Triggering Source of the Code Pipeline. We can select the source provider, as ‘GitHub (Version 1)’ or maybe something else as well.    
- **Build** — So here we add our Codebuild as the Build provider.
- **Deploy** — The last step, which defines where to deploy the Build. So, in our case we select Amazon S3.  

Save the changes and then click on ‘Release Change’.  

Let the code pipeline to run and deploy the Angular Project. After the pipeline completed the execution, we can check the s3 bucket, there we can see angular build files.

### Create a Hosted Zone:

In our case the hosted zone was already created.   
We need to create a DNS zone that will contain a CNAME record that will forward traffic from admin.exmasbook.com to our website endpoint. 

Since our static website is in AWS, we can use AWS Route 53 to serve as our domain’s DNS provider.  

### Request for Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificate:
- Search for Amazon Certificate Manager (ACM) and click on get started Request a Certificate and select Request a public certificate.
- Enter the domain name we registered earlier and keep rest other parameters as it is. Click on Request button.   
- In order to validate the domain, we need to add a CNAME record to the DNS configuration of our domain.   

Setting up the record depends on the provider. But since we have created a hosted zone in Route 53 earlier, click on the Create record in Route 53 button. Doing so will automatically add the record to the hosted zone.  

- Click on the Create button in the pop-up window to finalize creating the record in Route 53 and click on Continue button.   
- Next, we can see the Pending validation status, which indicates the certificate manager is trying to validate the ownership of the domain. 

Once validate, the license will be issued, and the status will change to Issued.  

### Use CloudFront to serve a static website hosted on Amazon S3:

- To serve a secure version of the website, we can use Amazon CloudFront which are AWS Content Delivery Network (CDN) service to serve the content of your static website being hosted on Amazon S3.
- Create a CloudFront distribution.   
- Set an origin domain by entering the S3 bucket endpoint in the Origin domain field. The origin domain indicates where our website content is stored.   
- In the Default cache behaviour section select the Redirect HTTP to HTTPS option under Viewer protocol policy.  
- In the Settings section click on Add item and set our domain name for secure access to your website rather than the domain name CloudFront assigns to the distribution.  
- Write domain name (admin.examsbook.com) in the input field below the Alternate domain (CNAME) section. Also, select the certificate that was issued to our domain earlier in the Custom SSL certificate field.  
- Next, in the default root object field and input the default home page name. We can see below that index.html is the default home page.  
- Leave the rest of the settings default when distributing a static website in CloudFront. Click the Create distribution button at the bottom to create the distribution.  

Finally, copy the distribution’s domain name in the Domain name column, and paste it in a browser’s address bar to test if our website shows as secure. We should see our website’s home page displayed by default.  

### Setting up Our Domain with CloudFront:
CloudFront is still directing traffic to our S3 bucket endpoint; it’s not using our custom domain. 

We want to use our own domain in order to distribute our website instead of the one provided by CloudFront. If so, we need to create an CNAME record for the domain name we previously registered.  

- Click on Hosted zone under DNS management in Route 53 dashboard to access our hosted zone(s) list.  
- On the Hosted zones page, click on your domain name in the table. Doing so will redirect us to a page where we’ll create a CNAME record type. CNAME record routes this domain’s incoming traffic to your CloudFront distribution.  
- Now, select your CloudFront distribution domain name in the Choose distribution field, and click on the Create records button.   

Once the record is successfully created then we can navigate to our website via the custom domain you configured.

Unlike vanilla React, where we fetch data on the frontend, which is then rendered on the screen, Remix fetches data on the backend and serves the HTML to the user directly. This guide will give you an overview of Remix and show you how to get started with this powerful framework -

## Overview About Remix.run



Remix.run is a newly developed, open-source and a wonderful full-stack web development framework designed to help you quickly build web applications with a minimum of hassle.



With Remix, you can easily create complex user interfaces with a user-friendly syntax. The framework is designed to be modular and extensible, so you can pick and choose the components you need for your project and create custom applications.

## How to Get Started?


The first thing you need to make sure before trying Remix is to check whether you have all the prerequisites fulfilled, i.e.-

Now, let’s check out the code of my first remix app, which is a simple blog-tutorial app, which i created with the above command. It shows some simple real-time examples of how routing works in remix.



Honestly, I followed the step-wise guide from the docs and created some pages through routing and nested routing. But the amazing thing was that the data was coming from Prisma, which is one of the greatest strengths of TypeScript.

Yes, you can create a form using <Form> tag, which is same as the <form> tag in HTML, and understand the form submission. Additionally, the action function here is responsible for getting and processing the form data.

- **The Indie Stack:** Deployed on Node.js server with SQLite database. It ideal for websites that contain dynamic data.
- **The Grunge Stack:** Deployed on Node.js with DynamoDB. A great choice if you want to deploy a production-grade application on AWS infrastructure. Other interesting feature is that you can also create your own custom stacks in Remix to power up your application in terms of flexibility and power. If you’re looking to run an application on Remix.run, chances are you’ll need to use a stack.

### - Routing in Remix.run


One of the key features of Remix.run is its routing system, which allows you to define the structure of your URLs and makes it easy to map URLs to specific resources in your application.



In Remix.run, routes can be nested within other routes, using params, to create more complex applications. Nested routing allows you to break up your application into smaller, more manageable pieces. It also makes it easier to reuse code and keep your application organized.


To create a nested route, you simply need to add a new route object within an existing route. The new route will then be accessible at the path specified by its parent route.



For example, if you have a route named _/users_ and you add a nested route named _/profile_, the _/profile_ route will be accessible at _/users/profile_. In the code examples, the _/new_ is the nested route within parent _/admin_ route, as we can see here.

### - Easier Integration of frontend and backend



As we saw above, the loader function eliminates the need of creating APIs to call data through getPosts controller, or creating backend controller to handle the GET API, and other files for routing and managing the code.


It’s a huge development in Remix, which is yet to get noticed by the world. There’s no separate files for frontend and backend code, you can write both in a single file, which is completely opposite to the concept of ‘Separation of concerns’.


Though this was already happening with the introduction of JSX in React, but Remix is taking it to a whole other level.


You are writing the whole page in a single file along with its css and database request, which is a big step that brings a sense of unity of frontend and backend within the code and eases the code flow.

Besides all the wonderful things we learned here about Remix, the one that still stands out is that somehow, among working together with the backend as well as the frontend code, Remix has made development easier and NOT complicated.

**T**he origin of next.js is when we wanted to create dynamic server-rendered sites. It is a react framework that helps teams to build ambitious, complex applications. But being dynamic has always come with a lot of limits.


With Next.js 13, React has become even easier to use. This new version promises to make development faster and more efficient.


It comes with a number of new features and updates, including Hot Module Replacement for server rendering, performance enhancements, and support for TypeScript 3.0. If you’re looking to learn or use React in your next project, Next.js is definitely worth checking out.

The most beneficial feature of Next.js is our file-system router. It even makes it a bit easier to create routes by dropping a file inside a folder. Configurations for each route are no more required.



With the introduction of the app/ directory (beta), there is a lot of improvement in routing and layout experience. Let’s see how ➖

- **Layouts:** Easily share UI between routes while preserving state and avoiding expensive re-renders.
- **Streaming:** Display instant loading states and stream in units of UI as they are rendered.
- **Server Components:** Making server-first the default for the most dynamic applications.
- **Support for Data Fetching:** async Server Components and extended fetch API enables component-level fetching.



While you don’t need to use the app/ directory when upgrading to Next.js 13, the app/ directory can coexist with the existing pages directory for incremental adoption.



## - Layouts

Next.js is a file-based routing system that uses folders to define routes. This system is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, and it offers a number of advantages over other routing systems.



- First, file-based routing makes it easy to create and manage complex route hierarchies.
- Second, it provides a clear separation between UI and routing logic, making it easier to maintain your codebase.
- Finally, file-based routing is more performant than client-side routing, as it doesn’t require the browser to parse and execute JavaScript code.



However, some developers find file-based routing to be confusing and difficult to work with. As a result, next.js’s folder-based hierarchy may be a better fit for your project if you’re looking for a simpler routing solution.

## - Server Components



Next.js is turning your mental model of how components work upside down! Instead, all the generated React code will run on the server by default and you must opt into having parts if it’s available for client Side rendering with module statements at top levels like before.


The app/ directory introduces support for _[React’s new Server Components](lwhat-are-react-functional-components)_ architecture. It uses the server and client to come out at their best by allowing one to build fast, highly-interactive apps with a single programming model which ultimately provides excellent developer experience and efficiency.



By this, we are laying the foundations for the future so that we can build complex interfaces by reducing the amount of Javascript sent to clients and enabling faster initial page load.



When a route is loaded, the Next.js and React runtime will be loaded, which is cacheable and predictable in size. This runtime does not increase in size as your application grows.


Further, the runtime is asynchronously loaded, enabling your HTML from the server to be progressively enhanced on the client.


## - Font Optimization


The new @next/font module allows you to optimize your Web Fonts during build time.

It downloads and hosts them in a private folder, saving an additional round trip for each font file downloaded from the server as well as delivering it quickly without having another set of handshake with any remote servers or services.


Which means, what is delivered has not been altered along its journey through our network layer — this means faster load times on pages where these fonts are used!


Remember that when using this package, then it’s important to have a working internet connection when you run your development build the first time so it can cache it properly, otherwise, it will fall back to system fonts if adjustFontFallback is not set.


Apart from these also, there are a few features due to which Next JS is much more reliable and good than other frameworks.

## Should I Upgrade To Next.js 13?



If you mean actually using and taking advantage of all the shiny new features you now have…I’d advise waiting.


Next.js 13 is a very early beta release that heavily utilizes cutting-edge features from React 16 and 17, often not implementing them fully yet due to their lack of stability in the form.


It has an extremely poor developer experience at this point with no documentation available other than third-party tutorials on YouTube which can lead you to make costly mistakes when trying something new — such as pipe characters being treated like spaces!



## Wrap Up



There’s no need to worry if you want a simple website with Next.js! This release gives us some insight into how things are going in the future, and it makes our framework even more robust behind the scenes because we’ll be able to use these new features once they’re available on all platforms (firefox).


As long as, you manage your expectations about what now have currently — don’t expect drastic changes right away though.
